Winter Park FFA

Hey, I’m Emma Paterson, and I’m honored to serve as your 2025–2026 Orange County Federation Treasurer!

As a sophomore at Winter Park High School, I’m proud to represent my chapter and community in this leadership role. My journey in agricultural education began in middle school, where I served as an FFA officer at both SunRidge and Lakeview Middle Schools. Those early experiences sparked my passion for agriculture, leadership, and service, helping shape the person I am today.

A little about me-I’ve been raising poultry for over eight years, gaining firsthand experience in animal care, breed management, and showmanship. My Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) focuses on breeding and raising show lambs, cattle, and poultry, as well as mentoring younger exhibitors in their livestock projects. I enjoy teaching proper animal care, showmanship, and confidence both inside and outside the show ring. Whether I’m in the barn preparing sheep or working cattle at jackpot shows, I’ve learned the value of responsibility, perseverance, and integrity.

FFA has given me the opportunity to compete in a variety of Career and Leadership Development Events. While I’ve enjoyed every contest, my favorites are Citrus Evaluation, Meats Evaluation, and Livestock Judging because they’ve strengthened my technical knowledge and helped me become a more confident competitor.

Outside of the blue jacket, I stay active in both school and my community. During the summer, you can usually find me at a jackpot show or mentoring younger exhibitors as they learn about sheep, lamb showmanship, and proper animal care. I also enjoy volunteering through my church, especially during Vacation Bible School, where I help younger children learn, create, and grow in their faith.

FFA has given me countless opportunities to lead with heart, serve with purpose, and grow through every challenge. As your Orange County Federation Treasurer, I’m committed to serving with integrity, supporting every chapter, strengthening our federation, and helping each member discover the opportunities, friendships, and sense of belonging that make FFA such an incredible organization.

Cattle SAE

Triple P Cattle:

As part of my Cattle Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE), I work with my family’s herd, Triple P Cattle, focusing on the daily care and management of beef production cows in Bell, Florida. I’m actively involved in feeding, health checks, pasture maintenance, and recordkeeping. I also participate in jackpot shows as a cattle showman, where I’ve learned the importance of consistency, patience, and presentation. This SAE has deepened my passion for animal agriculture and strengthened my long-term goal of becoming a veterinarian focused on genetics and herd improvement.

Poultry SAE

Purebred and Market Laying Hen

My Poultry Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) focuses on raising and exhibiting various breeds of poultry, including broilers and laying hens. I’ve been working with poultry for over seven years, and through that time I’ve learned the importance of daily care, breed selection, proper nutrition, and showmanship. This project has helped me grow as an exhibitor and mentor, and I enjoy sharing what I’ve learned with younger members while continuing to improve my own skills in poultry production.

Lamb SAE

Breeding and Market Program

My Lamb Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) is focused on raising, breeding, and exhibiting market lambs. I spend countless hours in the barn working with my animals—training, feeding, grooming, and preparing them for jackpot and county shows. Through this project, I’ve gained valuable experience in animal health, genetics, nutrition, and showmanship. It’s taught me discipline, patience, and responsibility, and it’s one of my favorite ways to stay connected to agriculture and the livestock industry. My ultimate goal is to become a veterinarian specializing in genetics, where I can help improve livestock quality, promote responsible breeding practices, and contribute to the future of animal agriculture through science and innovation.

Mentorship SAE

My Livestock Mentorship and Agricultural Education SAE is dedicated to helping young exhibitors grow their knowledge, confidence, and passion for agriculture. Through mentoring youth in cattle, goats, sheep, and poultry, I teach animal care, feeding, showmanship, herdsmanship, and livestock ethics while supporting them both in and out of the show ring. This experience has strengthened my leadership, communication, teaching, and problem-solving skills and has shown me that helping others succeed is one of the most rewarding parts of being involved in agriculture.
