Sophia Young

Hey Everyone! My name is Sophia Young and I am honored to serve our country as your 2023 - 2024 Vice President!

Currently, I am a Junior at Horizon High School. As well as, a proud member and the President of the Horizon High FFA Chapter! In my free time, you can find me volunteering at a local dog rescue, working as a vet assistant, helping our schools athletic training team & SGA, or serving as the 2023 Indian River County Teen Miss Agriculture USA! I joined FFA my seventh grade year and since then have flourished into who I am today. My SAE is in Agriculture Education, which involves going to different elementary and middle schools to provide an interactive experience for kids to learn about agriculture! My favorite CDE’S include Ornamental Horticulture Demonstration in the Marketing Division, Agriculture Education, and Veterinary Science. I am so incredibly excited to serve you and the rest of Orange County as your Vice President!

Advocating for Agriculture

I am passionate to advocate for agriculture through the exotic animals! I want to inspire and show that even if you work with exotic animals, it is still part of agriculture! As well as, demonstrate how agriculture is more than just traditional farming styles.

FFA

Most of the time you'll find me in the ag room or outside in our land lab. Working in FFA allows me to explore my passion for agriculture through different leaderships events and even CDE's and LDE's. My favorite CDE is Horse Evaluation and my favorite LDE is Creed Speaking!

Volunteering

When I'm not in the ag room or at the land lab, you'll find me volunteering at a local dog rescue! Through my work with this rescue, I have been to able to learn more about the care and management of adult dogs to puppies! As well as, with hard work and dedication I was able to receive my gold presidential award!
